Have you ever wanted to be in heart surgery and put your hands on the heart and see a start to finish coronary artery bypass grafting surgery from the perspective of the first assistant? Are you tired of patients asking you questions about what happens in surgery and you don't really know what to say? No more is that the case. Now you will be able to experience it first hand. This course takes the learner, whether NP, PA, RN or otherwise and puts you in the position to never forget what goes on in heart surgery with our ultra-realistic start-to-finish CABG simulation. In a small group you will watch the process and interact with all the steps as you rotate in through the first assistant role in a completely safe, friendly, and teaching-friendly environment.

Content includes:
Endoscopic vein harvest (discussed as a step of the process in this course, but full performance of this skill can be accomplished in our separate dedicated EVH Course due to time constraints.)
Vein preparation and clipping
Sternotomy and retraction
Placement of aortic, venuous and cardioplegia canulae
Arresting the heart and actually sew the graft in place
Epicardial pacer wire insertion
Mediastinal chest tube insertion
Closure of the chest with wires
Skin closure with subcuticular stitching
Post-procedure management and documentation
